Get to know more about me. I am originally from Bakersfield, California. I grew up as a pretty avid athlete and played a lot of soccer and baseball. When I was 13 years old, I tore my ACL. It was that experience that began my journey to become an orthopedic surgeon.
As I went through the MRI process, I had the opportunity to look at the images which I found really interesting. I ended up having a knee scope, which was videotaped. Following the surgery, the surgeon gave me a VHS copy of the procedure. I took it home, put it into the VCR, and began watching it. At that moment, I was hooked!
That’s really what sparked my interest in orthopedics. The anatomy and technology combined in a fascinating way to bring things to life in a way that I could visually appreciate.
