Kyle McClintock, DO

Orthopedic Surgeon with locations in Roseville and Folsom.

Hello! I’m Roseville Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Kyle McClintock.

I am originally from Bakersfield, California. I grew up as a pretty avid athlete and played a lot of soccer and baseball. When I was 13 years old, I tore my ACL. It was that experience that began my journey to become an orthopedic surgeon.

As I went through the MRI process, I had the opportunity to look at the images which I found really interesting. I ended up having a knee scope, which was videotaped. Following the surgery, the surgeon gave me a VHS copy of the procedure. I took it home, put it into the VCR, and began watching it. At that moment, I was hooked!

That’s really what sparked my interest in orthopedics. The anatomy and technology combined in a fascinating way to bring things to life in a way that I could visually appreciate.

My Journey to Becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon in Roseville, CA

After High School, I began college with that goal in mind–pursuing a career in medicine.

I graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with a degree in Biology and a minor in Business Administration. While at BYU, I met my wife, who also happens to be from California. Fortunately for me, she was willing to support me as I pursued my dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

For residency and medical school, we moved to the midwest. We spent four years in Kansas City for medical school, and then five years in St. Louis, Missouri, for residency.

I initially thought I wanted to go into sports medicine because that was my introduction to orthopedics when I tore my ACL. Through my experiences in the operating room and the clinic, I became fascinated with the anatomy of the shoulder and the complexity of the joint in general.

What really captured my imagination was a specific procedure called a reverse shoulder replacement. When I scrubbed in on my first reverse shoulder case as an intern, it was somewhat mind-blowing to me that we could flip the geometry of the joint and restore motion and function of the shoulder. That’s really what captured my interest in shoulder surgery.

After my residency in St. Louis, I went to Phoenix, Arizona, for a shoulder and elbow fellowship with the CORE Institute. It was there that I gained the necessary experience to become competent in complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction.

Return to California as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Roseville

Following my shoulder and elbow fellowship in Arizona, my wife and I decided to return home to California. Outside of my practice, my wife and I have been blessed with three kids that keep us busy. As a family, we enjoy the outdoors – golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and all of the fun outdoor things California offers. We’re a pretty active crew!
